Kenya eVisa or eTA is an online visa, introduced in 2005 by the Government of Kenya, that allows travelers from eligible countries to visit Kenya for tourism, business, and transit purposes.
In January 2024, the Kenyan government introduced a new Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system, replacing the previous eVisa system.
There are three types of eVisa to Kenya - tourist, business, and transit visa. The tourist and business eVisas stay valid for 90 days after the issue date, while the transit visa stays valid for 72 hours.
Citizens from eligible countries can apply for Kenya eVisa online by filling out an application form on our website. The approved document is then delivered to the applicant's email inbox.
eVisas have been introduced by the Kenyan Government to help travelers handle the necessary travel authorization documents in the easiest way possible.
Kenya eVisa is a single-entry visa with a validity period of 3 months (and the same length of stay permitted) from the issuing date. It costs 99 Euro.
The processing time may take a few days; thus, travelers should apply at least three business days before the planned trip.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, all incoming visitors to Kenya must have a completed Kenya Health Surveillance Form ready to be checked upon arrival.
The form requires travelers to provide travel, health, and contact details essential for the Kenyan authorities in regards to the pandemic.
Kenyan Health Surveillance Form is available online while its completion is followed by a QR code generated and send to each traveler via email.
The Republic of Kenya offers three types of eVisa, each one serving a different purpose of usage.
Please note that every type of online Kenya visa is a single entry permit. You can only enter and exit Kenya once within the validity period. To re-enter, apply for a new entry permit.
Moreover, the Kenyan eVisa remains valid for 90 days from the date of issue and you are allowed to stay with your approved visa also for up to 90 days.
Please remember then that you should not submit your visa application too much in advance of your planned journey.
Important note: As a holder of a single-entry Kenya eVisa, you are allowed to re-enter Kenya from Tanzania. However, if you wish to re-enter the territory of Kenya from another country, you will need to apply for another visa.
TIP! Are you going to Kenya to participate in a business event, conference, or just a meeting? Consider applying for the Tourist eVisa to avoid having to upload too many supporting documents!
*FAST TRACK As the airports in Kenya may be very often busy and crowded, travelers can now choose the Kenya Fast Track for passing through immigration control much easier and faster.

According to the Kenyan online visa policy requirements, the length of the validity period depends on whether you have a tourist, business, or transit eVisa.
The Tourist and Business eVisa both stay valid for 90 days after they are issued. Each of these electronic visas is a single entry permit that allows you one entry. The maximum amount of time that you can stay in Kenya is 90 days, and you must leave by the last day of the validity period.
The Transit eVisa - stays valid for 72 hours from your planned date of entry into the Republic of Kenya, and the maximum visit length is 3 days.
What if you are traveling to Kenya not to stay there, but to get on a connecting flight, boat, bus, or a train somewhere else? This is called transiting, and, just like with other reasons for visiting, it also needs an online visa.
A Transit visa is issued to persons connecting through Kenya to other destinations for a period not exceeding 72 hours. Those connecting flights directly without leaving the airport don’t need to apply for Transit visas.
If you see your citizenship on the "List of eligible countries," above, then you need a Kenya eVisa to transit through this country.
According to the requirements for entry into the Republic of Kenya, you must be carrying the following documents upon crossing the border:
- a valid passport
- a printed Kenya eVisa
As soon as your online Kenya visa is approved, you will receive a PDF version of the necessary entry permit via email. Print it out and present it to the customs officials upon arrival.
